Stage fright! I’m having an awful case of nerves about posting publicly again after nearly a year of enjoying my privacy. Hmm, I wonder if a blogger can be re-virginated? That’s how I’m feeling right now, just like I did the first few times I wrote and hit the ‘publish’ button.

Perhaps it’s the unknown with WordPress. I can honestly say, it didn’t go too well the first and last six times I attempted to post and publish the first time. I keep thinking I’m going to really fuck something up. Then I realize something… there are people using WP with a heck of a lot less blogging savvy than I have.

Maybe I’m afraid I’ll disappoint her readers. After all our styles are rather different. She’s deep. She has a range of experiences I don’t and likely won’t possess. I’m still the good time girl in my heart. Interested in many things yet unwilling to settle on any one thing. Sorta like this butterfly I lifted from her site earlier.

So, that was interesting…. I just added an image to the post and it looks like I’m going to be doing here like I do in my blogspot site, writing and functioning best in the HTML area.

I’m going to bite the bullet now and attempt to publish this thing. Instead of just trusting it will go smoothly (because… ha! it didn’t when I played with it oh, so long ago) I’ll copy this danged thing before releasing it to the big, old internet.

PS. There was a traffic spike the other day… gee, wonder why!

Well, what the hell, it worked and Jeezus is that template ever vivid! I think it left a retinal imprint. Nope, I’m not going to change it. There’s no need as I’m not going to be hanging out around here. It worked and that was all I was after for tonight. Tomorrow, I guess it’ll be time for me to make the introduction.

It seems strange to be starting over again.  I’ve had an active blog with Blogger for over 10 months now and have built a nice little community there.  It’s Blogger that is making me unhappy and for many reasons I’m choosing to leave it behind.  I’m hopeful that choosing to come to WordPress will make my life just a little bit easier.

So far, I’m seeing some good things and a couple of not so good things here.  I’m concerned about the restrictions to javascript and template changes.  They’re all about the security around here and as a result I had to go into my tools and shut off a mixed content warning thingy.  Perhaps, that will end that infernal pop up in comments on Blogger.  If it does, I’ll have to be sure to share my new found knowledge. 

Another thing I’m concerned about is that I’m not free to play around with my template.  There is one I can edit, but it would seem I have to pay for the priveledge.  Oh, well I guess it is their toybox. 

The good things I’m seeing are that I can password protect posts, so if there is something I want to write, but don’t want prying eyes to see, then it’s my secret unless I share it.  I can have multiple pages, which could be fun given how much I like to add images and I can also have a page for stories and other creative efforts.  I’m not certain what the categories are all about, but once I begin wandering around other blogs, I’m sure I’ll figure it out. I’ve been impressed with the forums and found some useful information there.  The widgets are easy to use and I think they may have been part of the inspiration for BloggerBeta. 

I suppose that’s it for tonight.  I’m tired.  I’ve had one of those days…rather frustrating, but as I’ve lost the urge to write about it tonight I’ll save those thoughts for another day.
